Minister of Justice visits to the Curaçao Gaming Authority

 

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) today received the Minister of Justice, Mr. Shalten Hato, for an introductory visit to its office at Scharlooweg.

The visit took place in the context of the recent portfolio allocation within the current cabinet, which placed the CGA under the political responsibility of the Minister of Justice. During the visit, the Minister and his delegation met the CGA’s Board of Directors and were briefed on current developments within the organization.

Topics discussed included the implementation of the National Ordinance on Gambling (LOK), the CGA’s transition, the appointment of new Supervisory Board members, and the collaboration between the CGA and the Minister of Justice.

During the meeting with the CGA Board of Directors, it was confirmed that the rollout of the reform in accordance with the National Ordinance on Gambling (LOK) will continue unabated under the Ministry of Justice. Licensing and supervision activities will continue as usual. It was also discussed that the process for appointing new commissioners has already begun and will be completed by the Minister as soon as possible.

The visit concluded with a brief tour of the CGA’s new office building at Scharlooweg 172–174, which has been in use since March of this year.

The CGA appreciates the Minister’s involvement and open dialogue and looks forward to constructive cooperation in the interest of strong, transparent, and reliable gambling supervision in Curaçao.
