WILLEMSTAD - To ensure the retention and attraction of medical specialists in Curaçao, the temporary Minister of Health, Environment, and Nature has established a task force to examine fiscal measures aimed at supporting this professional group.
This decision comes in response to concerns raised by the Association of Medical Specialists in Curaçao regarding the financial future of the Curaçao Medical Center.
The committee, led by the minister, will explore whether fiscal measures are necessary to promote the medical sector. The task force consists of medical specialists, tax experts, economists, and legal professionals.
They will specifically assess the remuneration of medical specialists under the National Ordinance on Top Incomes Regulation and its implications. Additionally, potential fiscal facilities for medical specialists will be identified.
It is expected that the work of this group will result in concrete recommendations and draft legislation to make the medical sector on the island more attractive. The task force is expected to present its advice, including legislative proposals, to the minister within six months.
