Local | By Correspondent August 27, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The introduction of the new Caribbean guilder, currently scheduled for March 31, 2025, is not yet confirmed, according to Minister of Finance Javier Silvania (MFK). The minister stated that adjustments to the timeline might still be made.

However, the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten's website continues to indicate that the Caribbean guilder will officially be introduced on March 31, 2025.

During the presentation of the new currency, Silvania emphasized the importance of carefully evaluating any potential complications during the transition. He has tasked the Government Accountants Bureau (Soab) with reviewing whether all preparations for the introduction of the Caribbean guilder have been completed and carried out correctly.

"Only once all conditions are met will a final launch date be established," the minister stated. Silvania stressed that a well-prepared and precisely executed introduction is crucial to the success of the new currency.
