Minister Middelhof and Economic Inspection Crack Down on Businesses Operating Without Permits

WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Economic Development, Roderick Middelhof, held an extraordinary meeting with the Economic Inspection of Curaçao, led by its head, Ronny Cornelis, to address the growing problem of businesses operating without the required permits.

According to the ministry, a considerable number of businesses on the island are functioning either with inadequate permits or with no permits at all.

Through an official statement, Minister Middelhof and the Economic Inspection emphasized that any person or company engaging in economic or commercial activities in Curaçao is legally required to hold a valid permit corresponding to the type of activity being carried out.

The inspection department will now adopt stricter enforcement measures, with immediate suspension of illegal operations and the possibility of legal sanctions.

Minister Middelhof issued a firm warning: “We will maintain a zero-tolerance policy. At all times and in all situations, we expect everyone to comply with the rules.”
