WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Health, Nature, and Environment Javier Silvania emphasized the crucial role of the House Doctor's Post (HAP) in providing emergency healthcare outside regular office hours. Speaking during a meeting requested by Parliament regarding the HAP, Silvania outlined the circumstances leading to the establishment of the facility.
Health Inspector Sirving Keli joined the minister in expressing concern over the negative perceptions surrounding the HAP. Keli asserted that such negativity is unwarranted, echoing Silvania's sentiments about the essential role the HAP plays in the island's healthcare system.
The discussion in Parliament continued in the afternoon, where Silvania faced various questions and took some time to respond. Many members of Parliament expressed strong criticism of the HAP; however, the government reiterated that the post represents an improvement compared to the past, when patients had no access to general practitioners outside of office hours.
