WILLEMSTAD - Minister Shalten Hato of Justice considers setting an overtime rate based on age a form of discrimination. Hato says this in response to a letter recently published by Finance Minister Javier Silvania.
In the letter in question, Silvania said that the overtime rate that people make at work should be age-related.
Hato says he does not support this, because a rate based on age is age discrimination. The minister indicates that he will deal with this situation in a strategic and pragmatic manner.
In consultation with the parties involved (including trade unions), a new proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers.
