WILLEMSTAD - Last evening, Minister of Justice Shalten Hato introduced a significant initiative with the unveiling of a new legal entity named 'PATH'. This organization is dedicated to combating abuse and human trafficking within our community. In his address, Minister Hato underscored the imperative of ending human trafficking and the smuggling of individuals in our nation. Thus, PATH aims to enhance awareness surrounding this critical issue through community outreach efforts. Furthermore, PATH will conduct thorough analyses of research data and actively engage in preventive campaigns. Additionally, the organization will extend support to the Curaçao Police Force, with plans for collaboration with Interpol.

The official launch event witnessed the presence of the Minister of Justice, alongside Dutch State Secretary of Justice and Security, Eric van der Burg, and PATH's national coordinator, Saïd Hensen. During the ceremony, they revealed the organization's new logo. In his speech, Van der Burg drew a poignant parallel between the historical atrocities of slavery and the contemporary scourge of human trafficking and smuggling.
