THE HAGUE - Minister Franc Weerwind of Justice and Security will be making a working visit to Bonaire, Aruba, and Curaçao from May 21 to May 27. The visit primarily focuses on establishing connections and, in his role as system administrator, the minister will visit various departments related to Justice and Security. Discussions about the history of slavery will also take place.
Bonaire
The journey begins on May 21 in Bonaire. The minister will be guided through the Caribbean Netherlands Judicial Institution (JICN) and will also visit the Probation Foundation. Additionally, a visit to the prevention project "Only You Decide" at Jong Bonaire is scheduled.
Aruba
On May 23, Minister Weerwind will be received by Governor Afonso Boekhoudt in Aruba. Together with Minister of Justice and Social Affairs Tjon, Weerwind will visit the Aruba Correctional Institute. A discussion with the deputy prosecutor general is also planned.
Curaçao
The working visit continues in Curaçao from May 24. The minister will engage in discussions at the Joint Court of Justice. The National Archives and Banda Abou will also be visited. The program includes a visit to the law faculty and a meeting with students. Minister Weerwind, along with Minister of Justice Hato, will also visit the Curaçao Detention and Correctional Center (Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Korsou).
