WILLEMSTAD - The Rif stadium Johnny Vrutaal located in Otrabanda must disappear. This was announced by the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Development Charles Cooper.
According to his ministry, the stadium located between Riffort Village, the Megapier and the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) office does not fit into the development plans of the area. Cooper has discussed these plans in the Council of Ministers. According to the minister, it concerns area development, as described in the National Package. According to Cooper, the intention is to work with Dutch experts on the development of government sites that can also benefit the country.
Baseball matches are still regularly held in the Johnny Vrutaal stadium, and music performances, especially during carnival, have also taken place in the past.
