Minister Cooper emphasizes that CDA is a milestone in the technological and economic advancement of the region

WILLEMSTAD - Recently, the Minister in charge of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning initiated the Caribbean Datacenter Association (CDA) conference, which took place at the start of the CANTO conference in May. The CDA conference brought together datacenter operators, service providers, developers, and educators in an association that promotes collaboration, standardization, and innovation within our industry, paving the way for a more prosperous and connected future for our region.

On this occasion, during his speech at the opening of the conference, Minister Cooper stated, "The era of digital transformation has brought with it the fact that data is the new currency. It empowers economies, drives innovation, and sustains connectivity in the world. In the Caribbean, we have seen substantial growth in digital infrastructure, yet the full potential of our data center capacities still needs to be explored. The Caribbean Datacenter Association aspires to change that by fostering collaboration, standardization, and innovation within our industry, paving the way for a more prosperous and connected future for our region."

Minister Cooper Continues to Illustrate that CDA's Vision is to Position Regional Data Centers to Support the Implementation of CARICOM's "Single ICT Space" and thereby Enable Regional Businesses to Actively Participate in the Global Digital Economy.

CDA aims to achieve this by promoting best practices, contributing to favorable regulatory frameworks, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among its members. CDA works to improve regional data center infrastructure, attract global investments, and create high-quality job opportunities for our people.

Minister Cooper concluded his introduction by appealing to everyone present, saying, "Together, we can create a robust, resilient, and sustainable ecosystem of data centers that will drive economic growth, foster innovation, and enhance the quality of life for every Caribbean citizen. Let us seize this opportunity to lead the digital transformation of our region."
