Minister Cooper Criticizes FLOW for Lack of Local Spokesperson

WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP), Charles Cooper (MFK), has expressed strong criticism of telecommunications provider FLOW for no longer having a dedicated local public relations representative. The concern was raised during the minister’s recent parliamentary question session.

Minister Cooper pointed out that in the past, local telecom company UTS maintained a spokesperson who served as a public liaison, ensuring transparent and accessible communication with the Curaçaoan public. This, he said, was especially important during service disruptions or when providing updates on key developments.

Cooper stated that he finds it troubling that FLOW now lacks a visible figure to speak to the community, particularly in times of outages or service changes. He emphasized that this absence weakens public trust and accountability.

The minister has submitted an urgent request through the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao urging FLOW to appoint one or more individuals specifically tasked with handling local communications.

“This issue must be resolved as soon as possible,” Cooper said, underlining the need for consistent, localized communication in the telecommunications sector.
