WILLEMSTAD - The Hak’e Summer Festival, typically a joyous occasion, took a troubling turn as allegations of assault surfaced involving Minister Cijntje of Economic Development. According to reports, an incident occurred in the VIP section where a female employee was allegedly mistreated by the minister. The woman has since lodged a formal complaint of assault with the National Detective Agency. 

The controversy unfolded when Minister Cijntje attempted to enter the festival grounds with three companions, despite having tickets for only two. His discontent reportedly arose from security protocol that prevented his third companion, a security guard, from accompanying them into the event. Allegedly, this led to a confrontation where the minister is accused of physically pushing the employee and using aggressive language. 

Local media have identified Minister Cijntje as the central figure in the incident, which has sparked public outcry and demands for accountability. Curaçao Chronicle reached out to the minister for his side of the story, but as of now, he has not responded to requests for comment. 

The case has drawn attention due to its implications for public conduct and the treatment of festival staff. Authorities are expected to investigate the allegations thoroughly to determine the appropriate course of action.
