Minister Boekhoudt Secures Dutch Support for Ambulance Care Reform in Curaçao

THE HAGUE – Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Tyron Boekhoudt has secured concrete support from the Netherlands for the structural reform of ambulance services in Curaçao, following high-level discussions with the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) and Ambulancezorg Nederland (AZN).

During the meetings, led by Boekhoudt, key steps were taken toward developing a more professional, efficient and future-proof emergency care system on the island. The discussions focused on governance structures, capacity challenges, and the establishment of robust quality standards across the healthcare chain.

Dutch partners expressed a clear willingness to actively support Curaçao in this process, including through knowledge sharing, technical assistance and policy guidance.

According to the ministry, this collaboration lays a strong foundation for accelerating the reform agenda and strengthening the overall quality and organization of emergency medical services in Curaçao.
