WILLEMSTAD - The lack of an Education Council within the education sector more palpable every day. This is according to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Marilyn Alcala-Walle.
That is why a concept is now on the table to introduce a permanent Education Council, as regulated in Article 7 of the State Ordinance on Fundamental Education.
The State Ordinance on Fundamental Education has been in force since 2008, but the section of an Education Council has never been made concrete, Alcalá-Wallé explained.
"The time has come for that now."
The Education Council for Curaçao will assist the Council of Ministers in general and the Minister of Education with and inform and advise on matters relating to education. Attention is given to the competence of teachers and the eight areas of education, namely: language literacy and communication; math and mathematics; people and society; people, nature, and technology; cultural and artistic education; healthy lifestyle and exercise education; social and emotional development; general human development.
