Minimum Wage in Curaçao to Increase Starting January 1

Local | By Correspondent December 24, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The minimum hourly wage in Curaçao will rise to 11.72 guilders as of January 1, 2024. The increase is the result of indexation based on the rise in consumer prices between August 2022 and August 2023, the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW) announced on Monday.

The new rate applies to all workers, including domestic staff. For a 40-hour workweek, the updated minimum wage will be 468.80 guilders per week and 2,029.90 guilders per month.

For a 45-hour workweek, this equates to 527.40 guilders per week and 2,283.64 guilders per month. Workers with a 48-hour workweek will earn a minimum of 562.56 guilders per week and 2,435.88 guilders per month.

SOAW has emphasized that all employers are required to implement the new minimum wage from the first day of the new year. The government aims to enhance employees’ purchasing power and ensure fair compensation through this adjustment.
