WILLEMSTAD - The Court has rejected the million-dollar claim that the government should pay to the Advent Hospital on appeal. As a result, the hospital misses more than 18 million guilders.
In 2021, the court ruled that the government would act unlawfully by not raising the SVB (Social Insurance Bank) rates since 2001. This is while the same rates for the old hospital SEHOS and the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) have been increased. The Court finds that the comparison with the other hospitals is not valid, given the nature and size of both hospitals.
The Court also finds that the organization of healthcare in Curaçao belongs to the National Board and that the court cannot interfere in this unless healthcare rates for the Advent Hospital would come to an unacceptably low level. This has not been proven, according to the Court.
