WILLEMSTAD – The annual military exercise Barracuda Warrior has commenced in Curaçao, bringing together various military units from the Caribbean region to enhance their skills.

A total of 165 personnel are participating, including the Marine Squadron Carib from Aruba, the Marine Detachment Sint Maarten, the Boat Platoon from Curaçao and Aruba, and Curaçaoan military members. The exercise runs through February 7, 2025.
The training includes a variety of activities such as shooting drills, operations on both land and sea, and exercises in urban areas. The troops are also practicing responses to unexpected attacks.
According to the Ministry of Defense, this training aims to improve preparedness for diverse scenarios and foster better cooperation between units. Exercises like Barracuda Warrior ensure that military personnel remain ready for their responsibilities in the Caribbean region.
Additionally, the exercise provides opportunities for participants to learn new techniques and operate effectively in challenging conditions.
