Miles Mercera Appointed as New CEO of CINEX

WILLEMSTAD – Miles Mercera has been announced as the new CEO of CINEX, the Curaçao Investment & Export Promotion Agency. The news was shared via the organization’s and Mercera’s online channels. He succeeds Jeanette Bonet, who served as interim CEO. 

Mercera brings extensive experience in tourism and hospitality, having previously held the position of CEO at the Tourism Corporation Bonaire. 

The Minister of Economic Development, Charles Cooper, expressed his support for the appointment. “CINEX plays a critical role in our strategy to diversify and strengthen the economy. With Mercera's arrival, I anticipate significant progress in our economic sectors. His expertise and leadership are essential to achieving our goals,” said Cooper. 

The CINEX Supervisory Board emphasized that Mercera’s selection was a meticulous process. “After a thorough selection process, guided by Deloitte and under the supervision of SBTNO, we are pleased to appoint Miles Mercera. His innovative ideas and vision inspire confidence in the future. Under his leadership, we aim to position CINEX as a forward-thinking organization that drives sustainable economic growth,” stated the board. 

Mercera expressed enthusiasm about his new role. “I’m excited to join CINEX and contribute to Curaçao’s economic development. My focus will be on strengthening CINEX as a future-oriented organization and investing in sectors such as the digital economy, AI, the creative economy, sustainable energy, and tourism. Additionally, we will continue supporting the National Export Strategy in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development,” he said. 

The appointment marks a new chapter for CINEX as it aims to expand its efforts in promoting investment and sustainable growth in Curaçao.
