WILLEMSTAD - Migrants without residence papers in Curaçao can now cover themselves against medical expenses with two insurers. These are Citizens Insurance and CG United. The possibility has come about on the initiative of the human rights organization Human Rights Defense Curaçao, HRDC.
During a specially organized information meeting, where information was given about the available health insurance packages, about sixty interested people of different nationalities were present.
The information evening is part of a series of HRDC presentations. The aim is to promote mutual understanding and to raise awareness among the migrants of their responsibility, as residents of Curaçao, not to be an additional burden for the local healthcare system.
