WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas regrets the statements made by fellow party member Juniël Carolina about the sale of seized drugs to fund the state coffers. Pisas did that as the political leader of the MFK.
Carolina made a mistake last Thursday during a parliamentary meeting when he suggested selling confiscated drugs from criminals and the 175 million guilders that would yield could be used by the government of Curaçao.
A member of parliament is obliged to vote and act in accordance with his or her conscience and without consultation, Pisas said. But his ideas are not in line with the thinking of the MFK.
According to Pisas, the party is committed to enforcing laws in Curaçao and its party will not tolerate in any way any violation of due laws by any politician or resident of Curaçao.
Pisas even goes so far as to say that his MFK apologizes to the people of Curaçao for Carolina's statement.
Carolina himself has not yet apologized for his statements.
