“It doesn’t have to be a big deal to hook the fish; sometimes a humble heart knows no joke”
WILLEMSTAD - The faction of Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) is ready to address the repeal of the 12.5% salary tax during the upcoming public session of Parliament. The law, which was previously discussed in the Central Committee, could soon be eliminated following an agreement across factions in Parliament, allowing for a streamlined process through a "blank report."
The MFK faction is confident that all parliamentary factions, except for the PNP faction, will agree to move forward with the tax repeal. The MFK contends that the PNP sought to delay the process by asking unnecessary questions, with the intention of stalling progress and preventing public employees from receiving their full salary entitlements, which are due in December.
Despite attempts by the PNP faction to delay the repeal process, MFK is optimistic about addressing the law in a public meeting soon. According to the MFK, the law could be adjusted to include salary indexing or a “lumpsum” system. They remain positive about the overall outcome, noting that "a humble heart knows no joke."
The MFK faction also expressed their gratitude to the Parliament staff, who completed the draft report on time, ensuring that the law can soon be brought before the government for further processing. Given the urgency of the matter, the MFK is calling on the President of Parliament to expedite the process and schedule a public meeting to finalize the repeal.
MFK remains committed to the welfare of public employees and is determined to move forward with the law’s repeal. The faction believes that a humble approach and good faith will lead to a positive resolution for the people of Curaçao.
