Meteorological Service Issues Yellow Alert Again for Rough Seas Along Curaçao’s Western Coast

WILLEMSTAD - The Meteorological Service of Curaçao has issued a precautionary advisory for rough sea conditions along the island’s western coastal areas, effective until 6:00 p.m. today.

Forecast analysis shows that strong winds and heavy swells could affect parts of the coastline, prompting the issuance of Code Yellow for potentially hazardous marine conditions.

In recent weeks, similar advisories have been issued as the island continues to experience unsettled weather and increased wave activity. Today’s conditions are expected to bring powerful surf and strong winds, which may cause damage to small vessels and coastal facilities due to wave run-up and flooding.

The Meteorological Service urges residents and maritime users to take the following precautionary measures:

– Small craft operators should exercise extreme caution or avoid going out to sea under current conditions.
– Owners of coastal facilities are advised to secure or protect their properties against possible flooding.
– Swimmers and beachgoers should remain vigilant and avoid venturing far from shore.

Officials warn that coastal flooding and strong waves could pose risks throughout the afternoon as sea conditions remain rough. The public is advised to stay updated through official weather bulletins.
