WILLEMSTAD - The Meteorological Service of Curaçao has issued a rough seas warning for all coastal areas of the island, effective until Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. The alert comes as waves of up to 2.5 meters are expected, particularly along the northern and western coasts.
As a result, the Code Yellow advisory for rough sea conditions remains in effect. The public, especially swimmers and water sports enthusiasts, is urged to exercise caution when entering the water or engaging in maritime activities.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Service reported that Hurricane Melissa reached the coast of Jamaica yesterday as a Category 5 storm, before slightly weakening while moving in a north-northeasterly direction.
The storm, however, poses no threat to Curaçao, the agency confirmed.
Local authorities continue to monitor sea conditions closely, reminding residents and visitors to stay informed through official weather updates and avoid venturing into unsafe coastal waters.
