WILLEMSTAD - The number of notary offices should be expanded, according to Members of Parliament Giselle McWilliam and Steven Martina from the MAN faction, in an amended Notary Act that has been submitted to the Parliament.
Currently, Curaçao has ten notary offices, but according to the Members of Parliament, this number should be increased to fifteen. The proposed amendment is primarily motivated by significant delays at notary offices. In addition to long waiting times, they are also barely accepting new assignments.
These issues affect not only the general population but also real estate agencies.
