WILLEMSTAD – The Government of Curaçao has announced that its offices will be closed on May 2nd, as this year Labor Day, which falls on May 1st, 2025, lands on a Thursday. Typically, public demand for government services on a working day that falls between two holidays is minimal. Additionally, many employees tend to take such days off, resulting in low attendance.
Given this, the Government of Curaçao has decided to grant all public employees an extra day off on Friday, May 2nd. This decision reflects the common practice of citizens taking the day off to enjoy an extended weekend, which will now also apply to public servants.
To keep operational costs as low as possible, the government will close its offices on that day and resume services on the next working day, which is Monday, May 5th, 2025.
