Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadets head to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - The TS Kennedy and its Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadets are on track to dock in Curaçao on Friday, February 7.

Captain Michael J. Campbell wrote in his ship blog that the docking would be the third time that the school has stopped in the country during Sea Term and would be his first trip as captain of the ship. The school also visited Curaçao in 2010 and 2014, he said.

Since departing from Buzzards Bay on January 11, the ship has sailed to practice anchoring drills off Puerto Rico and to the ports of Balboa, Panama, and Golfito, Costa Rica.

After Willemstad, Curaçao, they will head north to dock in Tampa, Florida, before returning to the academy on February 23.

Throughout the voyage, cadets have been keeping blog posts about their travels and the things they miss from home.

While the cadets are using a lot of their time at sea to learn about crewing a ship, they are also given time at each port to enjoy their surroundings and relax.
