WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina has unexpectedly resigned. Martina is former CEO of insurance company Guardian, as it turns out, he has not put enough of that company's stock on hold when he became a minister in 2017.
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) started a criminal investigation into the issue with the shares. Martina says that he did not do anything wrong but will resign so that the OM can carry out the investigation.
Martina is the son of former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles, Dominico ‘Don’ Martina. At the press conference in which he announced his resignation, the entire cabinet was present.
