WILLEMSTAD – Martin Luttge has been officially sworn in as a military member of the multiple military chamber in appeal at the Joint Court of Justice. The Acting Governor of Curaçao, Michelle Russel-Capriles, presided over the swearing-in ceremony on January 13.

Luttge’s appointment was formalized on December 4, 2024, through a Royal Decree. According to the Court, his impressive track record and high military rank as Commander played a decisive role in the decision. In his new position, he will be responsible for handling appeal cases involving military personnel as defendants.
The Joint Court highlighted the significance of Luttge’s appointment, as he already holds a key role as the Director of Operations at the Court. With his new responsibilities, he will now actively contribute to the core judicial process within the military chamber.
The Joint Court of Justice handles cases in Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, and the special municipalities of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. “Luttge’s addition to the military chamber strengthens the Court’s expertise in military justice,” the Court stated.
