Maria Liberia-Peters Award to Be Presented for First Time at The Hague Conference

| By Correspondent March 6, 2026

DEN HAAG – The first-ever Maria Liberia-Peters Award will be presented on March 7 during the conference “De Route van de Zwarte Vrouw” in The Hague.

The award will be handed over by Maria Liberia-Peters, who also served as a minister of state of Curaçao.

The distinction was established last year by the organizers of the conference and named in honor of Liberia-Peters. According to the organizers, the award recognizes her pioneering leadership and her role in opening doors for future generations.

The prize will be granted to a Black woman who, like Liberia-Peters, has created opportunities both within and beyond her professional field and has made a lasting impact on society.

Liberia-Peters will serve as chair of the jury and will personally present the award during the event.

Organizers say her role highlights the main goal of the conference: to increase the visibility of Black women, strengthen intergenerational collaboration and promote the sharing of knowledge and experience with younger generations.

The conference “De Route van de Zwarte Vrouw” will take place on March 7 in The Hague and will focus on leadership, participation and the position of Black women in society.
