WILLEMSTAD - More than two thousand people have already registered for the Ride for the Roses. That number is significantly higher than before. The organization attributes this to the forced break due to corona. The annual sporting event takes place on February 5. Usually, most people sign up just before the event. Thousands of people walk, cycle, or swim for charity. The money raised will go to cancer prevention.
Online registration is via the website www.ridefortheroses.net. Next week participants can pay in the garden of the main sponsor of the event Orco Bank in Landhuis Cerrito. The shirts are also available during registration.
Registration for one activity costs 20 guilders per person; for 2 or more activities (walking, cycling, and/or swimming) 30 guilders. For children up to and including 11 years, 15 guilders apply for one activity and 20 guilders for several. Participation in the swimming competition costs 30 guilders and ten guilders extra per person for 2 or more activities.
The volunteers will be in the garden of Orco Bank starting this Monday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday, February 4 from 9 am to 4 pm
