WILLEMSTAD - The police had to respond to numerous accidents and violent incidents over the past weekend. On the Goetoeweg, a car overturned in a collision with another car on Saturday night. The driver who caused the accident was under the influence of alcohol and has been arrested.
On the Schottegatweg Oost, another car overturned in the early morning hours. The driver was injured and had to be taken to the Curaçao Medical Center for further medical treatment.
In the same early morning hours, several accidents occurred after parties at Playa Parasasa. Several of these accidents were the result of alcohol consumption, with drivers crashing their vehicles and then fleeing the scene. One driver also crashed his car into a lamppost after a party.
Violence
Early yesterday morning, the police were called to Kaya Angela M. Juliana Maria in Bonam due to a man who had been assaulted and left in his vehicle.
The man couldn't explain who had assaulted him and did not provide any details. The police gathered some information to continue their investigation.
A day earlier, in the night from Friday to Saturday, around half past midnight, the police received a call from a woman reporting that a man was on her balcony and threatening her. The man in question turned out to be her own son.
The police arrested the suspect, L.E.R.S., a 42-year-old man born in the Dominican Republic, on suspicion of threats.
