Manifestation for more transparency about Isla

Local | By Correspondent December 28, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Energy & Petrochemical Cooperative (CEPC) manifested Tuesday morning for more transparency in the process surrounding the restart of the Isla refinery.

The protesters say they held a "passive manifestation" at the entrance to the refinery, Post 5. They want more clarity from the government about the plans for the Isla refinery. The CEPC feels "totally ignored" in the search for a new operator.

CEPC was established in 2020 to help all former Isla employees get back to work. The refinery has been inoperative for almost four years now, since the departure of the Venezuelan PdVSA in 2019.
