WILLEMSTAD - A scene unfolded on Monday at Hato Airport, where law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of involvement in a kidnapping case. The alleged abduction took place on Sunday night in the Brievengat neighborhood's Kaya Augusto Boelijn area.
According to reports, shortly before eleven o'clock in the evening, the suspect allegedly coerced a woman into his vehicle at gunpoint before fleeing the scene with her. Thankfully, authorities managed to locate the victim later at an address in Seru Fortuna's Kaya Yobida neighborhood.
Attempting to evade capture, the suspect reportedly tried to leave the country on Monday. However, police swiftly intervened, apprehending him at Hato Airport before he could board a flight. The individual in custody has been identified as a 27-year-old Curaçaoan, as confirmed by law enforcement officials on Tuesday evening.
In the course of their investigation, authorities conducted a thorough search of the suspect's residence in Kaya Shers, located in the Koraal Specht area.
The apprehended individual has been brought before an assistant prosecutor, who has ordered his temporary detention pending further inquiry into the matter.
