MAN-PIN Leader Requests Details on Ambulance Purchase from Minister Silvania

WILLEMSTAD – Giselle Mc William, leader of the MAN-PIN faction, has sent a letter to Minister Javier Silvania requesting detailed information regarding the recent purchase of three new ambulances by the ambulance service FKAK. The ministerial decree from 2024 reportedly allocated 1.35 million guilders for this acquisition.

Mc William asks for a copy of the official ministerial decision authorizing the funds and whether an expert-drafted program of requirements was created for the purchase. She also wants to know if the specifications were adhered to and whether it is true that the new ambulances are taller than the emergency entrance at the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

Additional questions posed by Mc William include:

Was FKAK’s internal staff properly consulted, despite warnings about the technical and operational drawbacks of the chosen ambulance models?

Were the vehicles evaluated in terms of local infrastructure and operational conditions before being put into use, and were any adaptations made to meet local needs?

Were the ambulances delivered fully equipped with all necessary medical instruments, or were additional costs incurred to make them operational?

If extra costs were involved, what was the total amount?

The letter highlights ongoing concerns about the suitability and procurement process of the new ambulances amid earlier public debate over their compatibility with Curaçao’s emergency facilities.
