WILLEMSTAD – Political party MAN-PIN has issued a call for urgent reforms in Curaçao’s education system, warning that the quality and future of local education are under serious pressure. The party outlined its concerns and proposed measures in a press release at the start of the new school year.
According to MAN-PIN, the government must take concrete action to safeguard education standards. Key priorities include correcting teachers’ salaries, investing in teacher training and professional development, and modernizing school facilities. The party also emphasized the need for stronger support for special education and the expansion of higher education opportunities to encourage more students to pursue their studies on the island.
One of the proposals highlighted is the implementation of a system to fund tutoring for students who require extra academic support but whose parents cannot afford it. MAN-PIN noted that Parliament has already adopted a motion from the party in favor of this measure.
“The education system must guarantee equal opportunities for every child to grow and succeed,” the party stated. MAN-PIN pledged to continue pushing for these reforms and to work toward making them a reality in the new school year.
