MAN-PIN and PNP call for urgent public meeting on concerns over general practitioners post

Local | By Correspondent September 25, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The MAN-PIN and PNP factions in Curaçao’s parliament are calling for a swift public meeting regarding the General Practitioners Post (HAP), following persistent complaints from the public about the quality of care provided. The MAN-PIN faction made the announcement in a press release.

According to the opposition parties, there are strong indications that the care provided at the HAP is insufficient, which may have led to preventable deaths. They are seeking clarification on staffing levels, the availability of medical equipment, and adherence to protocols. "Administrative procedures, which are reportedly delaying the provision of care, also need to be investigated," the parties stated.

In line with Article 64 of the Rules of Procedure, the MAN-PIN faction, along with the PNP faction led by Elvin Gerard, is requesting the public meeting. They are also demanding the attendance of Minister of Health, Environment, and Nature, Javier Silvania, at the session.
