MAN Highlights Decolonization at Regional Political Conference in Aruba

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçaoan political party MAN participated last weekend in a major regional conference on Aruba, addressing the ongoing debate over decolonization within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The event was organized by COPPPAL, the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean, of which MAN is a member.

During the gathering, MAN’s political leader Giselle Mc William delivered a speech outlining Curaçao’s position on decolonization and the current challenges faced by countries and territories within the Kingdom. She stressed that political cooperation across the region is crucial in addressing shared struggles.

“For us, it is fundamental to continue strengthening ties with political organizations in our region,” Mc William said. “We face common challenges in the areas of social development, the economy, and security. The conference has shown that only by working together can we achieve solutions that contribute to the progress of our peoples.”

MAN, which currently forms a joint faction in Parliament with the PIN party, underscored that the pursuit of stronger regional alliances is directly tied to Curaçao’s efforts to define its future within—or beyond—the framework of the Kingdom.

The conference brought together political leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean, reaffirming COPPPAL’s role as a platform for dialogue on sovereignty, democracy, and cooperation in the region.
