Man detained for committing immoral acts with a minor

Local | By Press release August 28, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Continuing with an investigation that the police of Barber began on Saturday, August 26, 2023, in the early evening hours, where a mother reported that her underage daughter had left home the previous day, the police made an arrest.

During the evening hours of Saturday, based on family indications, the Barber police went to an apartment complex in Leliënberg and there found the underage girl in the company of the suspect M.F.B., a 34-year-old man born in Curaçao.

The suspect was detained around 8:15 PM for committing an immoral act with a minor and was brought before an assistant prosecutor, who ordered his detention pending further investigation.

The girl was referred to the department that handles cases involving morality.

The police would like to draw the attention of the community that engaging in sexual relations or committing any immoral act with a minor is punishable by law.

It is noted that with certain regularity, underage individuals, the majority of whom are girls, leave their homes, whether with the intention of meeting older men or when they are already on the streets, they are approached by older men, leading to intimidation.

It is important to emphasize that even if the minor has accepted or offered, this does not absolve the adult of their responsibility. They are expected to know better and to make better judgments or choices.
