Man Arrested in Montaña Abou for Threats and Vandalism During Vehicle Removal

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police arrested a 31-year-old man on Tuesday morning around 10:00 AM at Kaya Z in Montaña Abou for threatening public officials and vandalizing government property.

According to police reports, several vehicles and car wrecks had been parked in front of the suspect’s home on public property for some time. Authorities had previously asked the man to remove them, but as of Tuesday morning, the vehicles were still there.

When government workers arrived to tow the cars, the man reacted aggressively. He threatened the workers and caused damage to a crane truck used during the operation.

Police officers on site quickly intervened and arrested the suspect, identified as D.L.M., a 31-year-old Curaçao-born man. He was taken into custody and brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his detention pending further investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a case of criminal threats and destruction of public property. The removal of unauthorized vehicles from public spaces remains part of ongoing enforcement efforts across Curaçao.
