WILLEMSTAD – A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex on Kaya Ambishon, partially damaging one of the units. The fire was reported to police around 12:30 PM, and firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, limiting the extent of the damage. 

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been intentionally set. At approximately 3:30 PM, a man came forward to the police and confessed to his involvement in the incident. 

The 58-year-old suspect, a Curaçao-born man, had sustained burns to his feet and was transported by ambulance to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for treatment. 

Following his medical care, the man was arrested and brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his pretrial detention. Police say the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the fire.
