WILLEMSTAD – The extensive renovation of Tra’i Seru Ballpark, formerly known as Cirilo Chirino Ballpark, is taking shape as work continues to transform the facility into a modern multifunctional sports complex for young baseball and softball players.

Sport organizations ESKD, FDDK and DISC are continuing the renovation project, which will include an artificial-turf playing field built to Little League dimensions.

Plans also include dedicated batting and pitching facilities, high-quality lighting, a new roof over the grandstand, changing rooms and an electronic scoreboard.

In addition to improvements to the playing facilities, the renovated complex will include space for educational sessions and mental training, reflecting an effort to provide young athletes with support beyond their physical development on the field.

The ballpark is being designed for baseball players between the ages of 4 and 12 and softball players between 4 and 16.

According to those responsible for the project, the renovation has proven more complex than initially anticipated, requiring adjustments to the original schedule.

Despite the challenges, the goal remains to complete the work before the end of 2026. Those involved in the project said the emphasis is on completing the renovation carefully and responsibly rather than rushing the work.

Once completed, Tra’i Seru Ballpark is expected to provide Curaçao’s young baseball and softball players with improved facilities for training, competition and personal development.

The organizations behind the project emphasized that Curaçao’s sporting talent deserves access to quality facilities at home.
