WILLEMSTAD - Minister Charles Cooper of Traffic, Transport, and Urban Planning has announced a significant project to modernize street lighting across Curaçao, in collaboration with Aqualectra. The project, which will be implemented in phases across various neighborhoods, aims to increase energy efficiency, improve neighborhood safety, and renovate infrastructure.
Introduction of Smart Lighting
The modernization plan includes the installation of smart street lighting in different areas. This technology optimizes energy usage and facilitates maintenance, contributing to a more sustainable Curaçao with better lighting for communities.
Execution Plan
The work is progressing according to plan, with a total of 11,840 smart lights to be installed across various neighborhoods within a period of three months.
Minister Cooper emphasized the importance of cooperation with the community, stating, “This project is a significant achievement in our efforts to improve safety and sustainability on Curaçao. We ask for the patience and understanding of residents during the execution phase.”
