WILLEMSTAD - The Caracasbaai is set to undergo a significant makeover according to Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas. The prime minister announced this during his New Year's Eve speech on Brionplein. Following the announcement, he posted a government video on his Facebook page showcasing the plans for the bay.
The video reveals multiple beach bars, kiosks, sports facilities such as a paddle court, and beach loungers. On the other side of the bay, near the Spanish Water, an events area is planned. Similar to Marie Pampoen, fixed barbecue spots will be designated.
The parking area is expected to be enclosed with barriers, and security measures will be implemented. Additionally, the construction of a large multi-level parking garage is part of the project.
The design is by Forever Young Architects, and the changes to the bay are expected to commence later this year.
