WILLEMSTAD - The Gosieweg, one of the crucial traffic arteries in Willemstad, will undergo major maintenance starting this Friday. The nighttime work is expected to last four days, causing some traffic inconvenience.
The activities involve "milling," a process where the old asphalt layer is removed to apply a new one, ensuring a better and safer road surface. The executing contractor, CWM, is responsible for this task.
For residents and businesses along Gosieweg, there will be little change; they can access their homes or businesses without hindrance. However, alternative routes will be indicated with signs and traffic controllers for drivers who typically use this route.
The Public Works Department emphasizes the importance of driving cautiously near the worksite. "We ask drivers to be extra vigilant and respect speed limits for the safety of both the road workers and users," said a spokesperson for Public Works.
The maintenance on Gosieweg is part of a broader initiative to improve the infrastructure in Willemstad. Although it entails some temporary inconveniences, the goal is to create a safer and more efficient traffic environment for everyone.
