Maintenance work on "crash guard sand barrels" at bridge ascents and descents

Local | By Press release August 18, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Minister Charles Cooper, along with the Public Works Service (OW), informs that maintenance work will be carried out on the "crash guard sand barrels" at the bridge ascents and descents. These are the sand-filled barrels located on the sides of the road when ascending and descending the Queen Juliana Bridge.

Due to the poor condition of these barrels, OW will remove and replace them. This will result in the closure of lanes that connect A.A. de Lannoy-Willems Blvd and Presidente Romulo Betancourt Blvd, which will take approximately 2 hours. The temporarily altered routes will be the descent of the bridge towards Abraham Mendez Chumaceiro Blvd (Punda) and the ascent of the A.A. de Lannoy-Willems Blvd towards Arubastraat.

The work will be conducted between 8:30 AM and 11:30 AM, and the contractor DR General Contractor will perform this task. Signage and orange barrels will indicate alternative routes. All motorists are urged to drive with caution.
