Maharo Isenia takes temporary leadership of Curaçao's Shared Service Organization

Local | By Correspondent October 18, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Maharo Isenia (45) has temporarily assumed leadership of the Shared Service Organization (SSO) of the Government of Curaçao. The SSO comprises six departments, including the IT helpdesk, facility services, central procurement, payroll, personnel administration, and document management. With approximately 250 civil servants, the SSO provides essential support to the government. In addition to his new role, Isenia is also part of the task force responsible for the digitalization of the government.

A Shared Service Organization is designed to centralize and streamline support services from various departments or organizations, aiming for greater efficiency and cost savings.

The SSO operates under the Ministry of Governance, Planning, and Services (BPD), which is temporarily overseen by Justice Minister Shalton Hato. The immediate priorities for the SSO include addressing administrative backlogs and advancing digitalization efforts. In his new position, Isenia is expected to further professionalize and enhance the efficiency of the organization by implementing processes that meet legal requirements. Furthermore, digital transformation projects are being initiated within the SSO, with a commitment to ensure no negative impact on employees.

A Familiar Face

Maharo Isenia is no stranger to the Curaçao government. He previously served as director of the government’s communications department, where he transformed the department into a professional organization staffed by expert communication specialists. Under his leadership, the department also underwent digitalization, which allowed for better communication with the public and press during the pandemic. However, since the pandemic, the role of the department has diminished, as the current government allows limited interaction with the press.

Isenia holds a diverse background, with studies in engineering, communications, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

During Isenia’s absence, Reyeanne Goilo will take over the leadership of the government’s communications department.
