WILLEMSTAD – Laurens Warnink will become Director of the Office of the Governor of Curaçao effective January 1, 2027.
The Office of the Governor of Curaçao is an independent unit within the civil service of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It supports the Governor in carrying out his duties at both the Kingdom and Curaçao country levels and provides information and advice on policy, legislation and implementation.
As director, Warnink will lead the team responsible for supporting the Governor in the performance of his duties. He will have primary responsibility for the substantive support provided to the Governor, as well as for the overall management and operations of the Office.
Warnink brings extensive experience to the position and is already familiar with the Office of the Governor of Curaçao. Since 2022, he has served as Director of the Office of the Governor of Aruba.
Before taking up that position, he worked at the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in several roles, including international positions within the Directorate for Legislation, Administrative and Legal Affairs and the Directorate for International Affairs.
Warnink previously worked in Curaçao from 2009 to 2015, when he served as Deputy Director of the Office of the Governor of Curaçao. His appointment therefore marks a return to an institution where he spent six years earlier in his career.
Warnink studied law and political science at the University of Amsterdam. He has strong ties to Curaçao, having completed his secondary education at Radulphus College on the island before continuing his studies in the Netherlands.
He will assume his new position on January 1, 2027.
