Large-scale traffic checks in Curaçao expose hundreds of violations

WILLEMSTAD - In a large-scale operation, police units from Otrobanda conducted extensive traffic check this week on crucial roadways of the island. The checks took place on the Pater Euwensweg and Weg naar Westpunt near hòfi Bill and on the Nijlweg, targeting speeding violations. 

In total, 159 vehicles were checked, with 32 drivers fined for exceeding the speed limit. Additionally, 47 fines were issued for a range of other violations, including driving without a valid driver's license, valid insurance, seatbelt, and with a damaged windshield. Three vehicles were towed away with a crane. 

During these traffic controls, the Public Prosecutor's Office collected over 2800 Antillean guilders in fines. These checks are part of an ongoing effort to increase safety on the roads of Curaçao and will continue.
