Large price differences Christmas shopping supermarkets

Local | By Correspondent December 15, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Consumer’s Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), has compared the prices of Christmas products in supermarkets.

Mangusa Hypermarket had by far the most products on the list and was the cheapest at 29 of the 125 Christmas groceries. As always, the consumer association notes large differences between the supermarkets. Christmas bread costs 22.75 guilders at Best Buy Supermarket, while it costs only 8.95 guilders at Centrum Mahaai. For Christmas ham at 8.70 guilders per kilo, Bon Bini Supermarket is the cheapest. At Esperamos you pay the highest price at more than 20 guilders per kilo.

Consumers Foundation and MEO advise consumers to keep a close eye on price comparisons and to make conscious purchases.
