WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has announced that from October 19 to November 30, 2024, it will conduct the Labor Force Survey (AKO) and Financial Inclusion Survey (FI) on Curaçao. The Labor Force Survey aims to measure recent developments in the local labor market, including unemployment rates, youth unemployment, the total economically active population, and the number of people actively seeking employment. The results will provide a clear picture of the current state of the labor market on the island.
Collaboration with the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS)
This year, CBS is collaborating with the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) to include additional questions related to financial inclusion. These questions will focus on whether people have access to financial products such as bank accounts, savings accounts, and payment methods. The goal is to gain a better understanding of the level of financial inclusion on the island and raise awareness about the importance of access to financial products and services.
Selected Households and Participation
A total of 2,650 households have been selected to participate in the survey. Each household will receive a notification letter from CBS, requesting their cooperation when a surveyor visits during the mentioned period. The contribution of each household member is essential to gather reliable and up-to-date data that reflects the reality of both the labor market and financial inclusion situation on Curaçao.
Confidentiality
CBS ensures that all information gathered will be used exclusively for statistical purposes. In accordance with the Statistics Law (PB 2011, nr. 19), all data will be handled confidentially and securely. Those seeking more information about the law can visit the CBS website at www.cbs.cw.
Publication of Results
The results of the AKO & FI 2024 survey will be published through a press release and will be freely accessible to the public on the CBS website, www.cbs.cw. The analysis of the Financial Inclusion results will be conducted by the CBCS and published on their website, www.centralbank.cw.
Gratitude
CBS expresses its gratitude in advance to all the selected households and urges them to participate in the survey. Their involvement is crucial for the success of the survey and to provide reliable data that will serve as a foundation for the development and planning of the community.
